Must Have Food & Drink:
- Ponto Final: if you make a point to eat at one place in Lisbon it should be here. This restaurant serves amazing traditional Portuguese food & is located on the water in Almada so you can see Lisbon from across the Bay. Make a reservation as far in advance as you can (through their email) or show up before opening to get in line for a table.
- TimeOut Market: lots of fun food vendors, the back wall is dedicated to famous chefs from Portugal so I highly recommend getting food from those stalls.
- Duque: rustic & cozy Portuguese restaurant with great food & great prices. Recommend making a reservation.
- Fabrica de Nata: must try pastel de nata, a Portuguese creme pastry, while in Lisbon.
- Bar Terraco de Santa Luiza: very cute terrace serving classic drinks & snacks with a view of the water & the city. Also pretty budget friendly.
- A Ginjinha: Ginja is a sweet cherry liquor that originates from Lisbon & this open-front bar is the historic home of the drink.
- Rua da Atalaia Street: located in a part of the city called Bairro Alto, this street is lined with bars & young people at night. A great place to go out with friends.

Must See Sights & Places:
- Praça do Comércio: huge waterfront Plaza with iconic arch.
- Castelo de São Jorge: ancient fortress situated on the city’s highest hill, there is so much history to learn as well as beautiful panoramic views of Lisbon. Buy your ticket online in advance to avoid waiting in lines.
- Jardim Julio de Castilho & Miradouro de Santa Luiza: this park & view point are must-see’s in Lisbon. Blue & white Portuguese tile everywhere, so lively & beautiful.
- Cathedral of Lisbon: over 800 years old, this is the oldest church in Lisbon.
- See Lisbon from the water! There are tons of cruise options to see some of Lisbons landmarks from the water.
- LX Factory: old factory complex that has been converted into an artsy space for retailers & restaurants.
- Fronteira Palace: slightly outside of Lisbon this is an absolute hidden gem! This beautiful palace hosts the largest collection of 17th century Portuguese titles in their original resting place as well as a stunning garden. The palace itself is only accessible through guided tour so check times & languages in advance!
- Santa Maria Maior: neighborhood in the historic center of Lisbon. Full of beautiful plazas, streets, tile-covered buildings & historic areas. I loved staying in & exploring this neighborhood.

Day Trips From Lisbon:
*Tip* Uber is insanely cheap in Lisbon so check prices of Ubers before looking into public transport to these places.
- Sintra: a fairytale town about 30 minutes from Lisbon by car. This area was once a summer retreat for Portuguese royalty so there are incredible castles & gardens to check out in this foresty wonderland. Visit the National Palace of Pena, Castle of the Moors, & Quinta da Regaleira (estate with a castle & insane garden grounds).

- Cascais: travel 30 minutes in a slightly different direction & you will end up in the town of Cascais, a common vacation destination on the Portuguese Riviera. Full of charming streets & beautiful beaches this fishing village turned elegant beach town is 100% worth a visit.
